Section 24-1-22 Definitions. The following terms, wherever used or referred to in this article, shall have the following respective meanings, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context: (1) AUTHORITY or HOUSING AUTHORITY. A public body organized as a body corporate and politic in accordance with the provisions of this article for the purposes, with the powers and subject to the restrictions set forth. (2) CITY. Any city or incorporated town in the State of Alabama. (3) COUNCIL. The legislative body, council, board of commissioners or other body charged with governing the city. (4) CITY CLERK and MAYOR. All bonds, notes and certificates issued by the authority shall be solely and exclusively obligations of the authority, payable solely from the revenues, income, fees or charges which may pursuant to the provisions of this chapter, be pledged to the payment thereof, and no such bonds, notes or certificates shall create an obligation or debt of the state. Section 31-12-6 Compensation for local government employees called into active duty. The governing body of any local governmental entity in this state may provide for any public employee of the entity who is called into active service in the Armed Forces of the United States during the war on terrorism which commenced in September 2001, to receive from his or her employer compensation in an amount which is equal to the difference between the lower active duty military pay and the higher public employment salary which he or she would have received if not called to active service.
