Section 34-13-1 Definitions. (a) For purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ACCREDITED SCHOOL or COLLEGE OF MORTUARY SCIENCE. A school or college approved by the Alabama Board of Funeral Service and which maintains a course of instruction of not less than 48 calendar weeks or four academic quarters or college terms and which gives a course of instruction in the fundamental subjects including, but not limited to, the following: a. Mortuary management and administration. b. Legal medicine and toxicology as it pertains to funeral directing. c. Public health, hygiene, and sanitary science. d. Mortuary science, to include embalming technique, in all its aspects; chemistry of embalming, color harmony; discoloration, its causes, effects, and treatment; treatment of special cases; restorative art; funeral management; and professional ethics. e. Section 16-6F-7 Applicant proposals; conversion to public charter school; terms of charters; contracts. (a) Request for proposals. (1) To solicit, encourage, and guide the development of quality public charter school applications, every local school board, in its role as public charter school authorizer, shall issue and broadly publicize a request for proposals for public charter school applications by July 17, 2015, and by November 1 in each subsequent year. The content and dissemination of the request for proposals shall be consistent with the purposes and requirements of this act. Section 22-52-12.1 Designated mental health facilities; standards of care. (a) The department shall designate certain mental health facilities that shall have the authority to receive respondents for evaluation, admission, detention, treatment and discharge pursuant to the provisions of this chapter. (b) The department shall establish standards of care and services to be rendered by each designated mental health facility and shall certify those facilities designated to provide evaluation, admission, detention, treatment and discharge.
