Section 41-9-249 Powers and duties of commission generally. The commission shall have the following duties and powers: (1) To promote and increase knowledge and understanding of the history of this state from the earliest time to the present, including the archaeological, Indian, Spanish, British, French, Colonial, Confederate and American eras, by adopting and executing general plans, methods and policies for permanently preserving and marking objects, sites, structures and ruins as defined in Section 41-9-242; (2) To promote and assist in the publicizing of the historic resources of the state by preparing and furnishing information to public mass media and to governmental agencies charged with publicity and to coordinate any of its objectives, efforts or functions with any agency or agencies of the federal government, of the State of Alabama and of other states or local governments having objectives similar or related to those of the commission; (3) To accept for renovation,...

Section 15-18-200 Motion by persons convicted of capital offense for forensic DNA testing and analysis. (a) An individual convicted of a capital offense who is serving a term of imprisonment or awaiting execution of a sentence of death, through written motion to the circuit court that entered the judgment of sentence, may apply for the performance of forensic deoxyribonucleic acid testing on specific evidence, if that evidence was secured in relation to the investigation or prosecution that resulted in the conviction of the applicant, is still available for testing as of the date of the motion, forensic DNA testing was not performed on the case at the time of the initial trial, and the results of the forensic DNA testing, on its face, would demonstrate the convicted individual's factual innocence of the offense convicted. (a) Each license or permit issued by the Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources or his or her authorized agent shall state the name of the applicant.
