Section 22-12A-6 Use of funds generally. Available funds will be expended in each geographic
area based on provisions within the plan developed in accordance with Section 22-12A-3. Funds
when available will be used to support medical care and transportation for women and infants
at high risk for infant mortality or major handicapping conditions who are unable to pay for
appropriate care. Funds will only be used to provide prenatal care, transportation, hospital
care for high risk mothers and infants, outpatient care in the first year of life and educational
services to improve such care, including optional educational programs, for pupils in schools
at appropriate ages but subject to review and approval by the local school boards involved

Section 16-1-51 Grants to public schools for advanced educational and specialized programs
for gifted and talented children. (a) The Legislature finds and declares the following: (1)
It is vital that Alabama's public schools challenge and encourage students who are capable
of completing accelerated academic work. (2) Programs to encourage accelerated students can
often be maintained by schools, after an initial start cost, with funding roughly equivalent
to what they currently receive. (3) This state should encourage schools to develop and implement
gifted and talented student programs to provide options for students capable of doing advanced
class work. (b)(1) The State Department of Education shall award available grants to public
schools for the purpose of initiating new programs or continuing existing programs to offer

for fringe benefits shall be determined by multiplying a uniform percentage times the amount
of teachers' salaries allowed in paragraph a. above or by multiplying a fixed rate depending
on the type of fringe benefit. The fringe benefits allowances shall include amounts for the
employer's contribution for teachers' retirement, health insurance, Social Security, Medicare,
unemployment compensation, personal leave, and sick leave. The fringe benefits allowance

5. Provision of other forensic services for children when requested by the council. b. The
Department of Forensic Sciences shall prepare an annual accounting of the distribution of
monies received and the effectiveness of programs implemented pursuant to this chapter and

Section 29-2-4 Reporting requirements; powers and duties. (a) On or before January 31 of each
year, any county or city required to report local motor fuel excise tax rate information to
the Department of Revenue pursuant to Act 1998-192 shall provide a similar report to the transportation
department regarding the total amount of local motor fuel excise tax revenues collected by
the county or city for the immediately preceding fiscal year and the total amount of the revenues
expended on road and bridge maintenance and improvement during that same fiscal year. The

Section 16-39-3 Education required for exceptional children; source of funds. Each school board
shall provide not less than 12 consecutive years of appropriate instruction and special services
for exceptional children, beginning with those six years of age, in accordance with the provisions

Section 16-6D-8 Tax credits; Failing Schools Income Tax Credit Account. (a) To provide educational
flexibility and state accountability for students in failing schools: (1) For tax years beginning
on and after January 1, 2013, an Alabama income tax credit is made available to the parent
of a student enrolled in or assigned to attend a failing school to help offset the cost of
transferring the student to a nonfailing public school or nonpublic school of the parent's
choice. The income tax credit shall be an amount equal to 80 percent of the average annual
