Section 16-17A-2 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTER. The teaching, research, and clinical facilities provided, established, or operated by a constitutionally created public university in the state or a university that operates a school of medicine. (2) AUTHORITY. A public corporation organized pursuant to the provisions of this chapter. (3) BOARD. The board of directors of an authority. (4) DIRECTOR. A member of the board of an authority. (5) GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY. The state, a county, a municipality, or any department, agency, board, or commission of the state, a county, or a municipality. (6) HEALTH CARE FACILITY. All property or rights in property, real or personal, tangible or intangible, useful to an authority in its operations, including without limitation, the following: a. Section 16-36-65 Use of statewide textbook contracts. (a) The State Department of Education in conjunction with the state Purchasing Agent shall furnish contracts from which state-adopted textbooks for the pupils and teachers in classrooms and schools operated under the jurisdiction and supervision of the Alabama Department of Mental Health can be purchased. These purchases shall be made from appropriations to the state Department of Mental Health. Section 22-4B-3 Loans for nursing degree - Eligibility - Contract - Cancellation of loan - Recovery of unpaid balance. (a) Within the limits of the funds appropriated for or otherwise available to the loan program, the board shall be authorized to grant to each applicant deemed by the board to be qualified, a loan for the purposes of acquiring a nursing degree as defined in Section 22-4B-1, upon such terms and conditions as may be imposed by the board and as provided for in this section.
