Section 40-2A-13 Examination of taxpayer's records; additional assessments; disclosure requirements; taxpayer notification. (a) The Department of Revenue, a governing body of a self-administered county or municipality, or an agent of such a municipality or county may not conduct an examination of a taxpayer's books and records for compliance with applicable sales, use, rental, or lodgings tax laws except in accordance with this section and with the Alabama Taxpayers' Bill of Rights and Uniform Revenue Procedures Act. (a) The County Commission of Jefferson County shall have authority, after notice as provided herein, to move or demolish buildings and structures, or parts of buildings and structures, party walls, and foundations when the same are found by the county commission to be unsafe to the extent of being a public nuisance from any cause. Section 2-8-319 Assessment moneys collected - Refunds. Any sheep or goat producer against whom any assessment is made and collected under authority of this article, if dissatisfied with the assessment, may demand and receive from the treasurer of the certified association a refund of the amount of the assessment collected from the sheep or goat producer. A demand for refund must be made in writing within 30 days from the date on which the assessment is collected by the commissioner.
