Section 9-17-1 Definitions. Unless the context otherwise requires, the following terms shall
have the following meanings: (1) BOARD. The State Oil and Gas Board created by this article.
(2) DEVELOPED AREA or DEVELOPED UNIT. A drainage unit having a well completed thereon which
is capable of producing oil or gas in paying quantities; however, in the event it is shown
and the board finds that a part of any unit is nonproductive, then the developed part of the
unit shall include only that part found to be productive. (3) DRAINAGE OR PRODUCTION UNIT.
The area in a pool which may be drained efficiently and economically by one well. (4) DRILLING
UNIT. An administrative unit established by the board to provide and allow for the drilling
of a well. Prior to establishment of a field and drainage or production unit within the field,
the board may establish a drilling unit to allow for the drilling of a well in search of oil

Section 40-23-60 Definitions. For the purpose of this article, the following terms shall have
the respective meanings ascribed to them in this section: (1) PERSON or COMPANY. Any individual,
firm, company, partnership, association, corporation, receiver or trustee, or any other group
or combination acting as a unit, and the plural as well as the singular number, unless the
intention to give a more limited meaning is disclosed by the context. (2) DEPARTMENT. The

Section 8-22-4 Definitions. The following terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in
this section unless otherwise stated and unless the context or subject matter clearly indicates
otherwise: (1) PERSON. Any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business
trust, joint stock company, company, corporation, or legal entity. (2) MOTOR FUEL. Those products
upon which the state excise tax levied, or defined, in Sections 40-17-1 through 40-17-52 and
40-17-170, as amended, is imposed. (3) WHOLESALER. Includes any person qualified as a wholesaler
of motor fuel with the state Revenue Commissioner, and shall also mean and include any person,
other than a buying pool defined herein, wherever resident or located, who brings or causes
to be brought into this state motor fuel purchased directly from the manufacturer thereof.
(4) WHOLESALE DISTRIBUTION. Any person, or the act of any person, including any affiliate

(4) AVIATION GASOLINE. Motor fuel designed for use in the operation of aircraft other than
jet aircraft, and sold or used for that purpose. (5) AVIATION JET FUEL. Motor fuel designed
for use in the operation of jet or turbo-prop aircraft and sold or used for that purpose.
(6) BIODIESEL FUEL. Any motor fuel or mixture of motor fuels that is derived, in whole or
in part, from agricultural products or animal fats, or the wastes of such products
or fats, and is advertised as, offered for sale as, suitable for use or used as motor fuel
in a diesel engine. (7) BLENDED FUEL. A mixture composed of gasoline or diesel fuel and any
other liquid that can be used as a motor fuel in a highway vehicle. (8) BLENDER. A person
who produces blended motor fuel outside the bulk transfer/terminal system. (9) BLENDING. The
