Section 2-10-27 Authority to acquire stock and execute mortgages. All cooperative agricultural
associations of any kind or character whatsoever, heretofore or hereafter organized under
the laws of the State of Alabama, are hereby authorized and empowered to purchase or otherwise
acquire and to hold stock in the New Orleans Bank for Cooperatives and in the Central Bank
for Cooperatives in accordance with the provisions of the Farm Credit Act of 1971, as heretofore
amended and as it may hereafter be amended by the Congress of the United States. All corporations,
heretofore or hereafter organized under the laws of the State of Alabama, which are eligible
to borrow from production credit associations, are hereby authorized and empowered to purchase

Section 2-10-35 Dissolution of marketing or marketing and purchasing associations. (a) Any
cooperative marketing corporation or association or mutual cooperative marketing or purchasing
corporation or association organized under the laws of this state, may be dissolved in the

or association of persons, not being a corporation and having no capital stock, shall engage
in this state in any character of business embraced within the provisions of this chapter,
the capital and property, or the certificate or other evidence of the rights or interest of

the purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed

Section 5-17-3 Use of words "credit union" in name or title. It shall be a misdemeanor
for any person, association, copartnership, or corporation, except corporations organized
in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, credit unions incorporated under the laws
of the United States, the trade associations of credit unions doing business in this state,
and other organizations as approved by the administrator, to use the words "credit union"
in their name, title, or in advertising. A credit union organized under the provisions of
this chapter shall include in its corporate name or title the words "credit union."
Any violation of this prohibition shall subject the party chargeable therewith to a penalty
of five hundred dollars ($500) for each day, with a maximum amount of fifty thousand dollars
($50,000), during which the violation is committed or repeated. The penalty may be recovered

Section 27-44-3 Scope of chapter. (a) This chapter shall provide coverage for the policies
and contracts specified in subsection (b) as follows: (1) To persons who, regardless of where

Section 2-7-20 Definitions. For the purposes of this article, the following terms shall have
