Section 27-31A-3 Risk retention groups chartered in this state. (a)(1) A risk retention group shall, pursuant to this title, be chartered and licensed to write only liability insurance pursuant to this chapter and, except as provided elsewhere in this chapter, shall comply with all of the laws, rules, regulations, and requirements applicable to the insurers chartered and licensed in this state and with Section 27-31A-4, to the extent the requirements are not a limitation on laws, rules, regulations, or requirements of this state. (2) Notwithstanding any other provision to the contrary, all risk retention groups chartered in this state shall file with the department and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) an annual statement in a form prescribed by the NAIC and, if required by the commissioner, in electronic format. (a) This section shall only apply to those areas outside the corporate limits of the Cities of Auburn, Opelika, and Phenix City in Lee County.
