Section 26-1A-217 Gifts. (a) In this section, a gift "for the benefit of" a person
includes a gift to a trust, an account under the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act, and a tuition
savings account or prepaid tuition plan as defined under Internal Revenue Code Section 529,
26 U.S.C. Section 529, as amended. (b) Unless the power of attorney otherwise expressly provides,
language in a power of attorney granting general authority with respect to gifts authorizes
the agent only to: (1) make outright to, or for the benefit of, a person including the agent,
a gift of any of the principal's property, including by the exercise of a presently exercisable
general power of appointment held by the principal, in an amount per donee not to exceed the

Section 34-1-2 Definitions. THIS SECTION WAS AMENDED BY ACT 2018-106 IN THE 2018 REGULAR SESSION,

of enabling the State of Alabama to comply with the provisions of the national Social Security
Act insofar as it relates to extending and strengthening its program of vocational rehabilitation

Section 17-4-2.1 Electronic poll books. (a) The Secretary of State may allow the use of electronic
poll books in lieu of the printed lists of qualified voters provided for in Section 17-4-2
and the poll lists provided for in Sections 17-9-11 and 17-13-7. A county, with consent of
the county commission and judge of probate, may use electronic poll books in lieu of the printed

Section 31-2-37 Annual encampments or cruises. Subject to the restrictions of the National
Defense Act and other federal laws governing the armed forces, the Governor may annually order
into the service of the state the whole or such portion of the armed forces of the state as
he may deem proper, the period of such service to be fixed by the Governor subject to the
restrictions mentioned above. When ordered into the service of the state, when rations are
not furnished by the United States government, the state shall furnish rations for the officers,
warrant officers, and men, of the same quality as rations furnished the Armed Forces of the
