Section 17-1-2 Definitions. For the purposes of this title, the following terms shall
have the definitions ascribed to them: (1) APPOINTING BOARD. In all elections the appointing
board consists of the judge of probate, circuit clerk, and sheriff of the county. (2) BALLOT.
The term includes paper ballots and electronic ballots. (3) BALLOT CONFIGURATION. The particular
combination and arrangement of offices, candidates, and questions for a precinct or subdivision
thereof. (4) BEAT. Has the same meaning as precinct. (5) BOX. The voting place in a precinct
or subdivision of a precinct for voting purposes. (6) CANVASSING BOARD. In all elections except

Section 11-98-13.1 Permanent Oversight Commission on 911. (a) The Permanent Oversight
Commission on 911 is established. The commission shall do the following: (1) Study the operational
and financial condition of the current 911 systems within the State of Alabama and publish
a report detailing the same. (2) Study the rate charged for 911 services and make recommendations

Section 17-13-8.1 Instant runoff primary elections in certain situations. (a) Notwithstanding
the provisions of Section 17-6-23 and Section 17-13-18, in a primary election
or second primary election, this section shall apply only to voters who are voting
by absentee ballot pursuant to the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act in
any county or portion thereof in which the nomination for a federal office other than the
office of President which is contested by three or more candidates. (b) The judge of probate

Section 17-8-1 Appointment of election officials; duties. (a) The appointing board,
or a majority of them acting as an appointing board, not more than 20 nor less than 15 days
before the holding of any election in their county, shall appoint from the qualified electors

Section 17-5-8 Reports of contributions and expenditures by candidates, committees,
and officials; filing; procedure. (a) The treasurer, designated filing agent, or candidate,
shall file with the Secretary of State or judge of probate, as designated in Section

remedies available within the agency, other than rehearing, and who is aggrieved by a final
