Section 45-36-90 Jackson County Economic Development Authority. (a) There is hereby created the Jackson County Economic Development Authority for Jackson County, Alabama. The authority is created for the purpose and has the responsibility of aiding and assisting current industries and coordinating efforts of all municipal and county agencies of Jackson County, as well as aiding organizations in the development of new industries which shall provide job opportunities for the citizens of Jackson County. (b)(1) The authority shall be governed by a board of directors consisting of seven members. (b) A district for the delivery of fire and emergency medical services may be formed in any unincorporated area of the county pursuant to this section subject to the approval of a majority of the qualified electors who vote at a referendum election for that purpose in the proposed district and for the approval of the mandatory annual dues of the district.
