Section 12-22-192 Petition for appeal under division; contents thereof. In such criminal cases
where the defendant has been adjudicated guilty by the trial court he may, if no motion for
a new trial is filed within 10 days after the last day on which a motion for a new trial could
have been filed or within 10 days after the ruling of the trial court upon a motion for a
new trial, duly filed and ruled on adversely to defendant, file with the clerk or the trial
judge of the court wherein such defendant was adjudicated guilty and sentenced a petition
in writing, sworn to and subscribed by said defendant, stating that the defendant desires

Section 12-22-71 Proceedings when only amount of judgment excessive. When an appeal is taken
to the appropriate appellate court from the judgment of any court and the appellate court
shall be of the opinion that the case should be reversed because the judgment of the lower
court is excessive and that there is no other ground of reversal, the appellate court shall

or rendered for money, whether debt or damages, and the same has been stayed on appeal by
the execution of bond, with surety, if the appellate court affirms the judgment of the court

Section 27-6-13 Sale of surety insurers' special deposit to pay outstanding judgment. (a) If
any surety insurer which has made the deposit provided for in Section 27-3-12 fails or refuses
to pay any final judgment entered against it upon any bond or undertaking from which no appeal
