Section 41-8A-1 Definitions. (a) The following words, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them below, unless the context clearly indicates a different meaning: (1) LAW ENFORCEMENT and CRIMINAL JUSTICE. Any activity pertaining to crime prevention, control or reduction or enforcement of the criminal law, including, but not limited to, police efforts to prevent, control or reduce crime or to apprehend criminals, activities of courts having criminal jurisdiction and related agencies (including prosecutorial and defender services), activities of corrections, probation or parole authorities and programs relating to the prevention, control or reduction of juvenile delinquency or alcoholism, narcotic and drug addiction. Section 45-37A-54.63 Board of directors. Such authority formed under this subpart shall constitute a public benefit agency of the State of Alabama and shall have a board of directors of nine members selected as herein provided. Such board of directors shall constitute the governing body of the authority. The members of the board of directors shall serve without compensation, except they shall be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in and about the performance of their duties hereunder. The Alabama Sentencing Commission, established as a state agency under the Supreme Court by this chapter. (2) CONTINUUM OF PUNISHMENTS. Section 36-17-3 Duties generally. The powers, functions, and duties of the Treasurer shall be: (1) To receive all moneys due the state and deposit them in the proper accounts.
