Section 15-7-2 Examination of complainant and witnesses; taking of depositions. (a) Upon a complaint being made to a judge or magistrate that an offense has, in the opinion of the complainant, been committed, the judge or magistrate must examine the complainant and such witnesses as he may propose on oath, take their depositions in writing and cause them to be subscribed by the person making them. Section 25-9-22 Witnesses at proceedings under chapter generally. (a) The chief has the authority to administer oaths and to issue subpoenas requiring the attendance of witnesses to testify under oath in any proceeding and to require witnesses to answer all questions propounded to them.
