Section 17-1-4 Right of city, county and state employees to participate in political activities.
(a)(1) No person in the employment of any city, whether classified or unclassified, shall
be denied the right to participate in city, county, or state political activities to the same
extent as any other citizen of the State of Alabama, including endorsing candidates and contributing

Section 36-25-1 Definitions. Whenever used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall
have the following meanings: (1) BUSINESS. Any corporation, partnership, proprietorship, firm,
enterprise, franchise, association, organization, self-employed individual, or any other legal

Section 45-27-120.11 Political activity. (a) Any employee may participate in city or state
political activities to the same extent any citizen of Alabama may. This activity may include
endorsing a candidate and contributing to campaigns. Employees may join local political organizations

Section 36-25-3 State Ethics Commission - Creation, composition; annual reports; compensation;
political activities; director; personnel. (a) There is hereby created a State Ethics Commission
composed of five members, each of whom shall be a fair, equitable citizen of this state and
