Section 16-16B-1 Short title; electronic textbooks; wireless electronic devices; rule making authority; implementation plan; Alabama Ahead Oversight Committee. (a) This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the Alabama Ahead Act. (b)(1) Commencing with the 2016-2017 school year, students may be provided textbooks in electronic format . Textbooks in electronic format may be available to schools under the jurisdiction of those local boards of education which choose to participate in Alabama Ahead, to the extent practicable and funding is obtainable, to provide students with resources in the following three areas: a. Wireless broadband access via high-quality WiFi infrastructure in schools, as a first priority pursuant to Section 16-6B-2.1. b. (a) No person who has been convicted in this state or elsewhere of committing or attempting to commit a crime of violence, misdemeanor offense of domestic violence, violent offense as listed in Section 12-25-32(15), anyone who is subject to a valid protection order for domestic abuse, or anyone of unsound mind shall own a firearm or have one in his or her possession or under his or her control. Section 16-16-10 Disposition of proceeds of bonds. (a) The proceeds of all bonds, other than refunding bonds, issued by the authority remaining after paying expenses of their issuance shall be deposited in the State Treasury and shall be carried in the State Treasury in a special or separate account. Section 16-33B-4 Basic powers and duties of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education for the Alabama Guaranteed Student Loan Program. (a) Basic powers. Section 22-4B-3 Loans for nursing degree - Eligibility - Contract - Cancellation of loan - Recovery of unpaid balance.
