Section 16-23-3 Provisional certificates. (a) It is the intent of the Legislature that the State of Alabama shall modify its policies relative to the certification of teachers to permit an expanded alternative certification program for prospective teachers for grades six through 12. In addition to certificates issued pursuant to this chapter to individuals graduating from approved teacher education programs, the State Board of Education shall adopt policies, procedures, rules, regulations, or standards authorizing an alternative certificate to be issued by the State Superintendent of Education to an individual, regardless of whether the individual is a graduate of an approved teacher education program, where the applicant shall: (1) Hold an earned bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Section 16-46-1 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following words shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: (1) ACADEMIC FRAUD. (a)(1) An individual taxpayer who files a state income tax return and is not claimed as a dependent of another taxpayer, a taxpayer subject to the corporate income tax levied by Chapter 18 of Title 40, an Alabama S corporation as defined in Section 40-18-160, or a Subchapter K entity as defined in Section 40-18-1 may claim a credit for a contribution made to a scholarship granting organization.
