Section 31-10-21.1 Qualifications for tuition reimbursement applicants; priority of state educational benefits; tuition rates; applicability of section; repayment of benefits. THIS SECTION WAS RENUMBERED BY ACT 2018-406, THE CODIFICATION ACT, IN THE 2018 REGULAR SESSION, EFFECTIVE MARCH 28, 2018. THIS IS NOT IN THE CURRENT CODE SUPPLEMENT. IT IS NOW SECTION 31-10-4.1. Section 16-1-43 Waiver of undergraduate tuition and fees for Purple Heart recipients. (a) For purposes of this section, a public institution of higher education includes public two-year and four-year institutions of higher education and postsecondary technical colleges, community colleges, and junior colleges located in the state. (b) A public institution of higher education may waive undergraduate tuition and fees for each veteran who is the recipient of the Purple Heart and who satisfies all of the following: (1) Is enrolled as a full-time, part-time, or summer school student in an undergraduate program that culminates in a degree or certificate. (2) Is currently, and was at the time of the military action that resulted in the awarding of the Purple Heart, a resident of this state. (a) As a prerequisite to renewal of a license to appraise real estate, the licensed real estate appraiser, licensed for any classification under this article, shall present evidence satisfactory to the board of having met the continuing education requirements of this article. (a) The State Board of Education shall develop and establish a comprehensive plan for improving courses in science, mathematics, computer education and other critical needs areas.
