Section 16-64-2 Requirements for qualification as resident student; rules and guidelines.
(a) For purposes of admission and tuition, a public institution of higher education may consider
that the term resident student includes any of the following: (1) One who, at the time of
registration, is not a minor and satisfies one of the following: a. Is a full-time permanent
employee of the institution at which the student is registering or is the spouse of such an
employee. b. Can verify full-time permanent employment within the State of Alabama or is the
spouse of such an employee and will commence the employment within 90 days of registration
with the institution. c. Is employed as a graduate assistant or fellow by the institution
at which the student is registering. d. Is an accredited member of or the spouse of an accredited
member of a consular staff assigned to duties in Alabama. e. Is in a program or takes courses

Section 45-28-244.01 Levy and collection of tax; disposition of funds; Etowah County
Development Committee. (a) In Etowah County, there is levied a one cent ($0.01) county sales
and use tax in all areas of the county, which may become effective no sooner than January
1, 1996. (b) The tax shall parallel the state sales and use taxes including exemptions therefrom
and enforcement proceedings therefor. The Etowah County Commission may administer and collect
this tax, or contract with a private entity or the State Department of Revenue to administer

Section 41-4-97 Annual report by certain state agencies regarding receipt of federal
funds. (a) For the purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the following
meanings: (1) FEDERAL RECEIPTS. Federal financial assistance received or administered from

private postsecondary institution, except those enumerated in Section 16-46-3, shall
operate within this state unless the private postsecondary institution first secures a license
from the Department of Postsecondary Education, regardless of whether the private postsecondary
