Section 16-60-117 Technical and workforce development programs. The board may operate technical
and workforce development programs as are necessary and appropriate to provide a skilled workforce
within the state. Such technical and workforce development programs may be provided through
the facilities and faculties of the community and technical colleges or may be provided at
other sites and utilizing such other faculty and staff as are required to satisfy the needs
of business and industry. The board, upon recommendation of the Chancellor, shall appoint
such program directors as needed with respect to such programs, using the same procedures
as are from time to time applicable to the appointment of the presidents of the community

Section 41-29-1 Creation; composition; support. (a)(1) There is hereby created the Department
of Commerce within the office of the Governor and directly under his or her supervision and
