Section 9-18-1 Enactment of Southern Interstate Nuclear Compact. The Southern Interstate Nuclear Compact is hereby enacted into law and entered into by the state of Alabama with any and all states legally joining therein in accordance with its terms, in the form substantially as follows: "SOUTHERN INTERSTATE NUCLEAR COMPACT "Article I. (a) All persons employed by Bishop State Community College, Southern Union State Community College, Bevill State Community College, and the Alabama Community College System who are part of the Alabama Career Center System on July 1, 2015, with no adverse effect as to salary or benefits, shall be transferred, subject to the contingency described in subsection (c), to the Alabama Department of Labor. (a) Any active member of the Alabama National Guard shall be entitled to the tuition benefits provided by this article upon his or her enrollment in a degree or certificate program in any community or technical college that is under the authority of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, or enrollment in pursuit of his or her first undergraduate degree in any public baccalaureate-awarding college or university within the state.
