may perform the following functions: (1) Accept donations, bequests, or other forms of financial
assistance for educational purposes from any public or private person or agency and comply
with rules and regulations governing grants from the federal government or from any other
person or agency, which are not in contravention of the constitution and laws. (2) Purchase
or lease real estate and equipment and make improvements to facilities necessary for the use
of the school, in accordance with applicable law. (3) Lease land or other property belonging
to the board of trustees or to the school. (4) Sell or exchange land or other real property
not needed for school purposes, but only when specifically authorized by law and then only

Section 16-56-6 Board of trustees - Chancellor; powers as to organization and administration.
(a) The board of trustees shall appoint a chancellor who shall serve as the chief executive
officer of the university and as secretary to the board and shall perform all services as
may be required by the board. The compensation of the chancellor, including the emoluments

Section 41-6-33 Lease, sale, etc., of gifts or donations of real property authorized; disposition
of proceeds from sale or rent. Should any gift or donation to said department be in the form
of real property, it may be leased, rented or sold in the discretion of said board of trustees,

Section 16-47A-6 Board of Trustees - Meetings. (a) The board shall hold its regular annual

including schools, colleges, or other educational institutions which may own or be entitled
to any contingent interest in any real estate situated in the State of Alabama, whether such

Section 16-47-32 Meetings. (a) The board of trustees shall meet at least once in each year
