Section 16-28-17 When child may be taken into custody. It shall be the duty of the attendance
officer, probation officer or other officer authorized to execute writs of arrest to take
into custody without warrant any child required to attend school or be instructed by a private
tutor who is found away from home and not in the custody of the person having charge or control
of such child during school hours and who has been reported by any person authorized to begin
proceedings or prosecutions under the provisions of this article as a truant. Such child shall

Section 37-2-150 Appointment. (a) Any company or corporation operating a railway may apply
through one of its executive officers to the Governor to commission such number of its agents,
servants or employees as said corporation shall designate to act as policemen for said corporation.
(b) The Governor, upon such application, may appoint such person, if he sees proper in his
discretion to make any appointment, or so many of them as he may deem proper to be such policemen

mean, the State of Alabama, a political subdivision, an agency, board, commission, or department
of the state, the State Board of Education, a public college or trade school, or a public

(a) The Director of the Clay County Community Corrections Program and employees of the program
shall constitute law enforcement officers of the State of Alabama with authority to make arrests
and serve arrest and search warrants in the performance of their official duties to the same
extent as deputy sheriffs are authorized and empowered in the counties, so long as he or she
