Section 16-33A-3 Amount of grant for each eligible student; grants payable to institutions
on behalf of students; effective date of grants. There is hereby granted to each eligible
student attending an approved institution the sum of $1,200.00 per academic year, which sum
shall be distributed to such institution on behalf of and to the credit of such student in
accordance with rules and regulations to be promulgated by the Alabama Commission on Higher
Education. Such grants shall be effective for qualified students enrolled in academic programs

Section 16-5-12 Evaluation of commission effectiveness; survey report and recommendations.
During the last year of each gubernatorial term, the commission shall conduct a survey of
members of the education community, the Legislature, the Executive Branch of the state, and
business and industry to evaluate the effectiveness of the work of the commission. A report

Section 29-9-4 Education Trust Fund Budget Stabilization Fund; Education Trust Fund Advancement
and Technology Fund. There is hereby created in the State Treasury an Education Trust Fund
Budget Stabilization Fund and an Education Trust Fund Advancement and Technology Fund. Any
monetary interest which accrues in the Education Trust Fund Budget Stabilization Fund shall
be retained in the fund from year to year and shall be subject only to the provisions of this
chapter. On or before November 15 of each fiscal year, if the total revenues deposited into
the Education Trust Fund during the immediately preceding fiscal year exceed the fiscal year
appropriation cap for the immediately preceding fiscal year, the excess shall be transferred

Section 16-24C-6 Termination of employment - Grounds for termination; procedures; appeals.
(a) Tenured teachers and nonprobationary classified employees may be terminated at any time
because of a justifiable decrease in the number of positions or for incompetency, insubordination,

Virtual Library Executive Council whose purpose shall be to manage and govern the AVL. The

Section 16-5-54 THIS SECTION WAS ASSIGNED BY THE CODE COMMISSIONER IN THE 2018 REGULAR SESSION,
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2018. THIS IS NOT IN THE CURRENT CODE SUPPLEMENT. (a) To be eligible for
the base program of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) per semester, an applicant
shall satisfy all of the following: (1) Be a graduate of a State Board of Education or State
Department of Education approved program in math or science, at the baccalaureate or master's
level, from an approved institution leading to an initial secondary professional educator
certificate endorsed in math or science. A teacher who only earns a passing score on the Praxis
test in math or science to add a certificate endorsement for math or science, and who has
not completed an entire approved program, does not satisfy this requirement. (2) Holds a valid
Alabama professional educator certificate endorsed in secondary math or science, or both.

Section 16-6A-9 Development of plan for improving courses in critical needs areas. (a) The
State Board of Education shall develop and establish a comprehensive plan for improving courses
in science, mathematics, computer education and other critical needs areas. In developing
such plan, the superintendent shall consult with teacher organizations, school personnel,
legislative leaders, the Governor's office, representatives from private industry, public

the procurement of professional services by any agency, department, board, bureau, commission,
authority, public corporation, or instrumentality of the State of Alabama shall be conducted

a master plan for the district, no street, square, park, or other public way ground or open
space, public building or structure, or public utility, whether privately or publicly owned,
shall be constructed or authorized in the district until the location, character, and extent
