ARTICLE I PURPOSE It is the purpose of this compact to remove barriers to education success imposed on children of military families because of frequent moves and deployment of their parents by: A. Facilitating the timely enrollment of children of military families and ensuring that they are not placed at a disadvantage due to difficulty in the transfer of education records from the previous school district(s) or variations in entrance/age requirements. B. Facilitating the student placement process through which children of military families are not disadvantaged by variations in attendance requirements, scheduling, sequencing, grading, course content or assessment. C. Facilitating the qualification and eligibility for enrollment, educational programs, and participation in extracurricular academic, athletic, and social activities. D. Section 9-17-110 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Research and Education Advisory Committee. (a) The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Research and Education Advisory Committee is created. The committee shall consist of five members as follows: Two members shall be industrial members of the LP-Gas Board appointed by the board chair; two members shall be either a dealer or a dealer's manager who is a member of the Alabama Propane Gas Association appointed by the association's board of directors; the fifth member shall be the Chair of the LP-Gas Board who shall serve as chair of the committee. The board administrator shall serve as the executive director of the committee. (b) The term of office of the appointed committee members shall be one year. Members may serve successive terms. Section 16-44A-30 Legislative findings. (a) Under Article 1 of this chapter, the Joint Legislative Committee on Southern Leadership Goals authorized and consented to the formation of a non-profit entity, subsequently organized as The Citizenship Trust and domiciled in Shelby County, Alabama, for the purpose of, among other things, proposing to the Legislature a voluntary compact to promote citizenship education programs. (b) The Legislature now finds that the voluntary partnership, compact, or trust should be authorized and ratified whereby public and private entities which desire to work together may do so to enhance and expand citizenship education for students. (a) The Legislature finds that the 1986 and 1992 Commissions on the Future of the South, under the auspices of the Southern Growth Policies Board, called for youth and community leadership development and support as critical to southern economic development and progress.
