Section 16-1-30 Written educational policies, rules and regulations of local boards of education.
(a) Definitions. When used in this section, the following words shall have the following meanings:
(1) LOCAL BOARD OF EDUCATION or BOARD OF EDUCATION. Any city or county board of education;
the Board of Trustees of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind; the Alabama Youth Services
Board in its capacity as the Board of Education for the Youth Services Department District;
the Board of Directors of the Alabama School of Fine Arts; and the Board of Directors of the
Alabama High School of Mathematics and Science. (2) CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER. The superintendent
of any public county or public city school system; the President of the Alabama Institute

Section 16-13-121 Approval of issue by State Superintendent of Education. Before issuing any
warrants under Section 16-13-120, the county board of education or the city board of education,
as the case may be, shall cause an application for approval of such issue to be filed with
the State Superintendent of Education. Such application shall be in such form and shall contain

Section 16-36-67 Special textbooks. (a) It shall be the duty of the State Board of Education
to negotiate with publishers of textbooks or authors of textbooks for the preparation and
publication, or either, of special textbooks for use in the public schools of the state. If
anyone undertakes the preparation of a special textbook for the purpose of making the textbook
more suitable and desirable for use in the public schools of the state, the State Superintendent
of Education shall submit the specially prepared textbook or specially arranged textbook to
the State Textbook Committee for its findings and ratings as to its desirability and suitability

Section 16-6B-4 Financial accountability. Following the analysis of the financial integrity
of each local board of education as provided in subsection (a) or (b) of Section 16-13A-2,
if a local board of education is determined to have submitted fiscally unsound financial reports,

Section 16-13A-12 Bonding. (a) The following officers and employees of a local board of education
shall be bonded in amounts fixed by the local board of education and approved by the State

Section 16-13A-3 Financial training of local superintendents of education. (a) The State Superintendent
of Education shall develop programs for the instruction and training of local superintendents
of education in subjects including finance, instruction, and legal requirements. The instruction
and training shall be designed to instill a minimum level of competence in local superintendents
