Section 16-8-6 Vacancies. In the event a vacancy occurs in the office of members of the county
board of education, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment by a majority of the remaining
members of the county board of education, and the appointee shall hold for the unexpired term.
In the event the vacancy is not filled by the remaining members of the county board within
30 days, the State Superintendent of Education shall fill such vacancy by appointment. The

Section 16-22-10 Salary increases for certain public education employees; two-year colleges
salary schedule upgrade; miscellaneous pay provisions. (a) The State Budget Officer shall
allocate to the State Board of Education, the Board of Trustees of the Alabama Institute for
Deaf and Blind, the Board of Youth Services Department District, the Alabama School of Math

Section 16-23-8 Institutes - Attendance required; penalty for failure to attend. Every person
employed in a teaching, supervisory or administrative capacity by the county or city board
of education in the public schools of the state shall attend the institute held for the county
or city in which such person is employed; provided, that the institute is held during the
term-time or during the week immediately preceding the date of opening of the schools in the
county or city. All persons attending such institute shall be paid as for time taught, and
any person subject to institute attendance who fails to attend an institute called in accordance

Section 16-3-16 Teachers' training and certification; reciprocity. (a) Subject to the provisions
