Section 45-37-243.02 Levy of tax. (a) As used in this section, the following terms have the meanings here given them: (1) COUNTY. Any county now or hereafter subject to this subpart. (2) COUNTY GOVERNING BODY. The county board of revenue, the county commission, or other like body of the county. (3) DIRECTOR OF COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE. The director of the county department of revenue, the license commissioner, or judge of probate of the county, or any other public officer performing like duties in the county. Section 27-44-8 Powers and duties of association. (a) If a member insurer is an impaired insurer, the association may, in its discretion and subject to any conditions imposed by the association that do not impair the contractual obligations of the impaired insurer, and that are approved by the commissioner: (1) Guarantee or reinsure, or cause to be guaranteed, assumed, or reinsured, any or all of the covered policies of the impaired insurers. Section 34-24-361 Investigations; reporting offenses; proceedings and actions; privileged information. (a)(1) The State Board of Medical Examiners on its own motion may investigate any evidence which appears to show that a physician or osteopath holding a certificate of qualification to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama is or may be guilty of any of the acts, offenses, or conditions set out in Section 34-24-360. As part of its investigation, the board may require a criminal history background check of the physician or osteopath. In such event, the physician or osteopath shall submit a complete set of fingerprints to the State Board of Medical Examiners.
