Section 44-1-2 Definitions. The following terms, wherever used in this chapter, shall have the following meanings: (1) AFTERCARE. A youth is released by the department from a state training school operated by the department, wherein the department releases legal custody, supervision, and the right to return until further order of the juvenile court. The term means a legal status created by order of the committing court at the time of release from a state training school whereby a youth is permitted to return to the community subject to supervision by the court or any agency designated by the court and subject to return to the court at any time during the aftercare period. (2) BOARD. The Alabama Youth Services Board. (3) BOARD MEMBER. Any member of the Alabama Youth Services Board. (4) COMMITTED YOUTH. Section 16-1-11 Private schools to register and report;. All private schools or institutions of any kind having a school in connection therewith, except church schools as defined in Section 16-28-1, shall register annually on or before October 10 with the Department of Education and shall report on uniform blanks furnished by the Department of Education, giving such statistics as relate to the number of pupils, the number of instructors, enrollment, attendance, course of study, length of term, cost of tuition, funds, value of property, and the general condition of the school. Section 16-1-38 Financial and education law training for newly elected superintendents of education. (a)(1) Each person newly elected or appointed as a city or county superintendent of education shall, prior to assuming office, attend and satisfactorily complete a training program on school finances and education law. This requirement shall be applicable upon the development and offering of the training program as provided in this section. (2) The State Superintendent of Education, based upon reasonable cause, may allow a newly elected or appointed superintendent to attend and satisfactorily complete the training program after assuming office.
