Section 16-25-10.12 Officers and employees of Alabama Higher Education Partnership, Inc.; contributions;
creditable service. (a) The governing body of the Alabama Higher Education Partnership, Inc.,
by resolution legally adopted to conform to the rules prescribed by the Board of Control of
the Teachers' Retirement System, may elect to have its officers and employees, from whatever
source and in whatever manner paid, become eligible to participate in the Teachers' Retirement
System subject to all rules, regulations, and conditions thereof. (b) The governing body of
the Alabama Higher Education Partnership, Inc., having made an election by resolution pursuant
to subsection (a), may have its employees and officers participate in, and be entitled to,

Section 16-23-16.1 Creation of Professional Teachers Standards Commission; designation or development
of entry-level pre-certification examination for teacher candidates. (a) The Legislature finds
that Alabama is alone among the southern states in not testing teacher candidates before allowing
them in the classroom, and acknowledges that the need exists to establish, maintain, and enforce
minimum professional standards for teacher candidates in the State of Alabama. In response

Section 16-24-61 Contracts for part-time employment. Public school teachers, whether or not
tenured, may contract with local boards of education to work less than full time so long as
their salaries reflect employment for less than a full day, week, or contract year and are
commensurate with the salary schedule hourly rate of pay adopted by the Legislature, based
on their educational attainment and experience; provided however, that any part-time teacher

Section 16-25-11.15 Purchase of credit for prior service with eligible employer under Employees'
Retirement System. (a)(1) Any person who, as of July 1, 1990, is an officer or a regular employee
of an employer participating in the Teachers' Retirement System and who has previously been
employed by another employer eligible for participation in the Employees' Retirement System
pursuant to Section 36-27-6, shall be eligible to receive creditable service for each year
of service previously rendered to another employer eligible for participation in the Employees'
