Section 16-25-11.7 Purchase of credit by certain members employed as teachers in state public
schools regardless of manner in which salary was paid or source thereof. (a) Any person who
on October 1, 1990 was a member of the Teachers' Retirement System who was employed in a public
school in Alabama shall be entitled to receive credit for all service rendered in such public
school regardless of the manner in which the member's salary was paid or the source of funds
for such salary; provided, however, that this provision shall not apply to any person who
at the time of such service with a public school was also a student at the institution by
which he was employed. (b) Any person employed in the capacity set out in subsection (a) of
this section shall be entitled to receive credit for all service as a teacher rendered by
