Section 16-1-18.1 Accumulation of sick leave. (a) Definitions. When used in this section,
the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively: (1) EMPLOYEE. Any person
employed full time as provided by law by those employers enumerated in this section;
and adult bus drivers. (2) EMPLOYER. All public city and county boards of education; the Board
of Trustees of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind; the Alabama Youth Services Department
District Board in its capacity as the Board of Education for the Youth Services Department

Section 16-24-61 Contracts for part-time employment. Public school teachers, whether
or not tenured, may contract with local boards of education to work less than full time so
long as their salaries reflect employment for less than a full day, week, or contract year
and are commensurate with the salary schedule hourly rate of pay adopted by the Legislature,
based on their educational attainment and experience; provided however, that any part-time
teacher receiving benefits from the Teachers' Retirement System shall conform to the criteria

Section 12-17-330 Appointment; rehearing; ratification of findings and recommendations.
(a) The Administrative Director of Courts may authorize one or more referee positions in any
judicial circuit on either a full-time or a part-time basis upon submission of a written request
by the presiding circuit court judge and upon consideration of funding and the number of child
support cases in the domestic relations division of the circuit court, including cases brought

Section 45-49-121.01 Election and procedures to determine whether Utilities Board of
Town of Citronelle subject to civil service system. (a) The following definitions apply to
this section: (1) ELECTION. The employees of the utilities board shall vote through

Section 16-24B-3 Principals - Probationary and contract principals. (a) Any other provision
of law to the contrary notwithstanding, persons employed as principals in the public schools
in Alabama on or after July 1, 2000, may, at the election of the employing board and upon
