Section 16-17A-2 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTER. The teaching, research, and clinical facilities provided, established, or operated by a constitutionally created public university in the state or a university that operates a school of medicine. (2) AUTHORITY. A public corporation organized pursuant to the provisions of this chapter. (3) BOARD. The board of directors of an authority. (4) DIRECTOR. A member of the board of an authority. (5) GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY. The state, a county, a municipality, or any department, agency, board, or commission of the state, a county, or a municipality. (6) HEALTH CARE FACILITY. Section 23-2-153 Exemptions from levy, charge, assessment, collection, etc., of certain taxes; certificate of exemption. Section 11-89A-10 Security for payment of bonds; contracts and agreements to secure. (a) Any bonds issued by the authority shall be revenue bonds and shall be payable solely out of such revenues of the authority as may be designated in the proceedings of the board under which they shall be authorized to be issued. Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation.
