Section 16-61C-5 Appointment of director; responsibilities of superintendent. The State Superintendent of Education may appoint a full-time director for the Science in Motion Program who shall be responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring and coordination of the ASIM Program. The State Superintendent of Education shall be responsible for the following: (1) Initiate the preparation of proposals for funding grants from governmental, corporate or private sources. If, as a requirement for receiving grant funds, the grant-awarding entity requires the participation of private schools in the Alabama Science in Motion Program, the superintendent is hereby authorized to include private schools to the extent that the requirement is satisfied. Section 9-15-44 Exchanges of school lands. The Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources is hereby authorized to exchange school lands for other lands of equal value, with the approval of the Governor and the State Superintendent of Education. The Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources shall have the title to the land to be received by the state examined; and, if in his opinion said title is without defect, he shall so certify to the Governor and, provided the Governor and the State Superintendent of Education approve, the Governor shall cause patents to be issued to those exchanging said lands. Section 16-61B-1 Legislative intent. There is hereby created within the State Treasury a fund, designated the Education Technology Fund, hereinafter referred to as the fund. The State Superintendent of Education shall authorize the expenditure of monies within the fund, upon the approval of the State Board of Education.
