Section 45-45-162 License commissioner. (a) The Madison County governing body shall reimburse
the office of license commissioner and the office of tax collector from the general fund of
the county the amount of any shortage of funds or other monetary loss, not to exceed a total
of five thousand dollars ($5,000) per annum, arising or caused by error, if the mistake or
omission was caused without his or her personal knowledge, including loss arising from
acceptance of worthless or forged checks, drafts, money orders, or other written orders for
money or its equivalent. (b) It shall be the duty of the license commissioner and tax collector
to insure that their employees exercise due care in performing their duties and to make a
diligent effort to correct the error, mistake, or omission and collect the amount subject

hereinafter prescribed against every person engaging in Greene County in the business of renting
or furnishing any room or rooms, lodging, or accommodations, to any transient in any hotel,
motel, inn, tourist court, or any other place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations

Section 11-51-54 Maintenance, etc., of separate accounts and funds for general and special
taxes. The county tax collector shall not be required to make or keep a separate account of
any special taxes collected for any such municipalities but shall keep such account only in
gross of the total tax levied by the municipality. If any part of the tax collected by the
municipality is set apart by law for any special purpose, the treasurers or persons acting

Section 45-26-246.02 Monthly report; recordkeeping; penalties. (a) The tax levied by this part,
except as otherwise provided, shall be due and payable to Elmore County on or before the 20th
day of the month next succeeding the month in which the tax accrues. Notwithstanding any provision
