Section 16-4-15 Census for schools. (a) The State Superintendent of Education shall prepare, or cause to be prepared, and submit for approval and adoption by the State Board of Education rules and regulations for the taking of a decennial school census of all children in the state between six and 16 years of age, also the forms and blanks to be employed in taking such census and in compiling the reports thereon. The next school census shall be taken in 2008 and every 10 years thereafter, and the State Superintendent of Education may cause the whole or any part of the school census of any county or of any city to be retaken at any time, if, in the judgment of the State Superintendent of Education, the whole or any part of the census has not been properly taken.
