Section 16-22-13.9 Fiscal year 2019-2020 adjustments. (a) PAY INCREASES, FY 2019-2020. (a) The State Budget Officer shall allocate to the State Board of Education, the Board of Trustees of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, the Board of Youth Services School District, the Board of Directors of the Alabama School of Fine Arts, and the Board of Trustees of the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science and for disbursement to the employees thereof funds based on the criteria established in this section. It is not the intent of this section to make appropriations, but the appropriations required by this section shall be made in the annual Education Trust Fund budget act for the designated fiscal year. (a)(1) Before the 2016-2017 school year, each local board of education shall adopt a policy providing, at a minimum, a virtual education option for eligible students in grades nine to 12, inclusive, beginning with that school year. (a) The State Board of Education shall develop and establish a comprehensive plan for improving courses in science, mathematics, computer education and other critical needs areas. Section 31-12A-3 Academic credits based on military education, training, or service. Each board of a state public educational institution, community college, or technical school shall adopt, by December 31, 2013, a policy requiring each institution under the board's supervision and management to award educational credits to a student, who is also a veteran, enrolled in the institution for courses that are part of the student's military training or service and that meet the standards of the American Council on Education or equivalent standards for awarding academic credit if the award of education credit is based upon the institution's admission standards and its role, scope, and mission.
