Section 16-1-41.1 School board governance improvement. (a) This section shall
be known and may be cited as the School Board Governance Improvement Act of 2012. (b) The
Legislature finds and declares all of the following: (1) That the purpose of this section
is to enhance the effectiveness of public education governance in Alabama through the establishment
of training requirements, boardsmanship standards, and accountability measures that are designed

Section 16-6F-4 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall
have the following meanings: (1) APPLICANT. Any group with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or

recognizes that Erin Merryn was raped and molested for six and a half years by a neighbor
and a family member. She began a crusade her senior year of high school in 2004 to end the
silence and shame around sexual abuse. Erin's Law has been adopted in a number of states to
help address the problem of child sexual abuse. (2) The intent of Erin's Law is to shatter
the silence and stigma around child sexual abuse, and to educate children and empower them

Section 16-68-3 (Effective July 1, 2020) Adoption of free expression policy. (a) On
or before January 1, 2021, the board of trustees of each public institution of higher education
shall adopt a policy on free expression that is consistent with this chapter. The policy,

duties. (a) There is hereby created the Alabama Local Tax Institute of Standards and Training.
