Section 16-1-50 Possession and use of over-the-counter sunscreen by students. (a) Any student in a public school under the jurisdiction of a local board of education or in a nonpublic school may possess and apply federal Food and Drug Administration regulated over-the-counter sunscreen at school and at school-based events notwithstanding any other provision of law, including any rule of the State Board of Education or the State Board of Nursing. (b) No rule of the State Board of Education or the State Board of Nursing shall apply to the possession or use of federal Food and Drug Administration regulated over-the-counter sunscreen by students at a public or nonpublic school. (c) Any student, parent, or guardian requesting a school board employee to apply sunscreen to a student shall present to the nurse a Parent Prescriber Authorization Form (PPA) containing a parent or guardian signature. Section 16-6D-8 Tax credits; Failing Schools Income Tax Credit Account. (a) To provide educational flexibility and state accountability for students in failing schools: (1) For tax years beginning on and after January 1, 2013, an Alabama income tax credit is made available to the parent of a student enrolled in or assigned to attend a failing school to help offset the cost of transferring the student to a nonfailing public school or nonpublic school of the parent's choice.
