Section 34-27-7 Real Estate Commission - Created; composition; qualifications of members; appointment; terms; compensation; organization; executive director and assistant executive director generally; seal; records; immunity from suit. (a) There is created the Alabama Real Estate Commission. The commission shall consist of nine members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate as hereinafter provided. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency to be known as the Alabama Tax Tribunal to hear appeals of tax and other matters administered by the Department of Revenue and certain self-administered counties and municipalities that choose to participate with the Alabama Tax Tribunal to hear appeals of taxes levied by or on behalf of self-administered counties or municipalities. Any judge of the Alabama Tax Tribunal shall have the requisite knowledge and experience to hear and resolve disputes between taxpayers and the Department of Revenue or taxpayers and any self-administered county or municipality that has elected to participate with the Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) At the beginning of each legislative quadrennium, the State Ethics Commission shall provide for and administer training programs on the State Ethics Law for members of the Legislature, state constitutional officers, cabinet officers, executive staff, municipal mayors, council members and commissioners, county commissioners, and lobbyists.
