Section 15-9-83 Action by official having custody of prisoner upon receipt of request for final determination. The request shall be delivered to the warden or other like official having custody of the prisoner, who shall forthwith: (1) Certify the term of commitment under which the prisoner is being held, the time already served on the sentence, the time remaining to be served, the good time earned, the time of parole eligibility of the prisoner and any decisions of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles relating to the prisoner; and (2) Send by registered or certified mail, return receipt requested, one copy of the request and certificate to the court and one copy to the district attorney to whom it is addressed. Section 45-11-231.10 Removal, discharge, or demotion of merit employees; proceedings before board; appeal. (a) The sheriff may remove, discharge, or demote any merit employee who is directly under the sheriff, provided that within five days a report in writing of the action is made to the board, giving the reason for the removal, discharge, or demotion. (a) Any person who commits one or more of the acts or practices declared unlawful under this chapter and thereby causes monetary damage to a consumer, and any person who commits one or more of the acts or practices declared unlawful in subdivisions (19) and (20) of Section 8-19-5 and thereby causes monetary damage to another person, shall be liable to each consumer or other person for: (1) Any actual damages sustained by such consumer or person, or the sum of $100, whichever is greater; or (2) Up to three times any actual damages, in the court's discretion.
