Section 14-6A-31 Powers. A regional jail authority shall constitute a public body corporate and politic, exercising public and essential governmental functions and having all the powers necessary or convenient to carry out and effectuate the purposes and provisions of this article and including, but not limited to, the following powers: (1) To sue and be sued in its own name in civil actions, subject to the limitations provided in Chapter 93 of Title 11, and, except as otherwise provided in this article, to defend civil actions against it. (2) To adopt and make use of a corporate seal and to alter the seal at pleasure. (3) To have perpetual succession. Section 16-28B-5 Model policy. The department shall develop a model policy prohibiting bullying, violence, and threats of violence on or off of school property, on a school bus, or at any school-sponsored function. The model policy, at a minimum, shall contain all of the following components: (1) A statement prohibiting bullying, violence, and threats of violence. (2) Definitions of the terms bullying, as provided in subdivision (1) of Section 16-28B-3, intimidation, and threats of violence. (3) A description of the behavior expected of each student. Section 16-6F-6 Authorization of establishment; Alabama Public Charter School Commission; registration requirements; powers and duties of authorizers. (a) Eligible authorizing entities. As used in this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings respectively ascribed to them unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) BONDS.
