Section 28-3-242 Procedure for confiscation and sale of goods, etc.; nature of proceedings against goods, etc.; court proceedings for collection of tax due and assessed. (a) In all cases of seizure of any goods, wares, merchandise or other property made as being subject to forfeiture under provisions of this chapter which, in the opinion of the officer or person making the seizure, are of the appraised value of $50.00 or more, the said officer or person shall proceed as follows. He shall cause a list containing a particular description of the goods, wares, merchandise or other property seized to be prepared in duplicate and appraisement thereof, to be made by three sworn appraisers to be selected by him, who shall be respectable and disinterested citizens of the State of Alabama, residing within the county wherein the seizure was made. (a)(1) The State Board of Medical Examiners on its own motion may investigate any evidence which appears to show that a physician or osteopath holding a certificate of qualification to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama is or may be guilty of any of the acts, offenses, or conditions set out in Section 34-24-360. As part of its investigation, the board may require a criminal history background check of the physician or osteopath. (a)(1) In addition to all other charges, costs, taxes, or fees levied by law on bail bonds, additional fees as detailed in paragraph a. and paragraph b. shall be imposed on every bail bond in all courts of this state. The fee shall not be assessed in traffic cases, except for those serious traffic offenses enumerated in Title 32, Chapter 5A, Article 9.
