Section 45-28-234.13 THIS SECTION WAS ASSIGNED BY THE CODE COMMISSIONER IN THE 2017 REGULAR
SESSION, EFFECTIVE JUNE 3, 2015. THIS IS NOT IN THE CURRENT CODE SUPPLEMENT. The board shall
have the power to administer oaths, take depositions, certify official acts, and issue subpoenas
to compel the attendance of witnesses and production of papers necessary as evidence in connection
with any hearing, investigation, or proceeding within the purview of this part. The sheriff,
or some other person so designated by the sheriff, shall serve all processes of the board,
and shall attend and preserve order at all public hearings conducted by the board. If a person
refuses to obey a subpoena from the board, the board or its authorized representative, may
ask the Circuit Court of Etowah County to order the evidence to be produced. Upon proper showing,
the circuit court may order compliance with the subpoena. Failure to comply with such an order

Section 45-36-80.05 Jackson County Preservation of Justice Act. SECTION 4 OF ACT 2019-215 WAS
AMENDED BY ACT 2020-119 IN THE 2020 REGULAR SESSION, EFFECTIVE MAY 18, 2020. THIS IS NOT IN
THE CURRENT CODE SUPPLEMENT. (a) This section shall be known and cited as the Jackson County
Preservation of Justice Act. (b) The Legislature hereby finds and declares the following:
(1) The financial restraints existing in the State General Fund budget have resulted in a
shortfall to the Unified Judicial System that has caused the layoff of many judicial employees.
In Jackson County, three employees in the circuit clerk's office who were scheduled for layoff
have been temporarily retained with alternate funding other than funds appropriated to the
Unified Judicial System; however, this alternate funding cannot be relied upon in the future.
Revenue from this section will restore funding for some judicial employees in the circuit.

writer to perform the duties of official court reporters over the court in the circuit over

Section 45-49-82 Additional court costs - All cases docketed in circuit court. (a) In each
civil action at law, suits in equity, criminal case, or any other proceeding which has originated
or may hereafter originate in the Circuit Court of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, there
shall be taxed as costs the sum of two dollars ($2) which shall be in addition to all other
court costs. (b) All additional costs as provided herein shall be collected by the clerk or
register in the same manner as other court costs are collected by the clerk or register, and
shall be paid into the county treasury and deposited and kept in a special fund to be known

must meet the same quorum requirement and be adopted by the same vote and voting groups required

A corporation may at any time, by resolution of its board of directors, and without shareholder
action: (1) Cancel all or any part of the shares of the corporation reacquired by it other

of cancellation with respect to shares the reissuance of which is prohibited by the articles
