Section 40-18-175 Tax imposed when passive investment income of corporation having subchapter
C earnings and profits exceeds 25 percent of gross receipts. (a) If for the taxable year an
Alabama S corporation has accumulated earnings and profits at the close of the taxable year
derived from years during which the corporation was an Alabama C corporation, and gross receipts
more than 25 percent of which are passive investment income, then there is imposed a tax on
the income of the corporation for the taxable year. The tax shall be computed by multiplying
the excess net passive income by five percent. (b) (1) For purposes of this section: a. Except
as provided in paragraph b below, the term "excess net passive income" means an
amount which bears the same ratio to the net passive income for the taxable year as (i) the

Section 8-20-4 Unfair and deceptive trade practices. Notwithstanding the terms, provisions,
or conditions of any dealer agreement or franchise or the terms or provisions of any waiver,

Section 12-23A-4 Establishment of drug court; participation; incentives and sanctions; components;
drug court team and advisory committee; coordinator. (a)(1) The presiding judge of each judicial
circuit, with the consent of the district attorney of that judicial circuit, may establish
a drug court or courts, under which drug offenders shall be processed, to appropriately address
the identified substance abuse problem of the drug offender as a condition of pretrial release,
pretrial diversion, probation, jail, prison, parole, community corrections, or other release

Section 32-5A-191.4 Ignition interlock devices. (a) As used in Section 32-5A-191, the term,
"ignition interlock device" means a constant monitoring device that prevents a motor
vehicle from being started at any time without first determining the equivalent blood alcohol
level of the operator through the taking of a breath sample for testing. The system shall
be calibrated so that the motor vehicle may not be started if the blood alcohol level of the
operator, as measured by the test, reaches a blood alcohol concentration level of 0.02. (b)
The ignition interlock device shall be installed, calibrated, and monitored directly by trained
technicians who shall train the offender for whom the device is being installed in the proper

(a) Criminal history background information checks shall be performed by the Department of
Public Safety upon request by an employer, child care facility, adult care facility, or child
placing agency authorized to make a request, or the Department of Human Resources. The Department

Section 25-5-8 Employers' options to secure payment of compensation. (a) Option to insure risks.
An employer subject to this chapter may secure the payment of compensation under this chapter
by insuring and keeping insured his or her liability in some insurance corporation, association,

Section 25-5-57 Compensation for disability. (a) Compensation schedule. Following is the schedule
of compensation: (1) TEMPORARY TOTAL DISABILITY. For injury producing temporary total disability,
the compensation shall be 66 2/3 percent of the average weekly earnings received at the time
of injury, subject to a maximum and minimum weekly compensation as stated in Section 25-5-68,
but if at the time of injury the employee received average weekly earnings of less than the
minimum stated in Section 25-5-68, then he or she shall receive the full amount of the average
