Section 14-6A-3 Board of directors. (a) The regional jail authority shall be governed by a board of directors composed of the following: (1) Two members appointed by the county commission of the most populous county, one of whom may be a member of the county commission. (2) One member from each of the remaining counties appointed by the county commission of each respective county, which board member may be a member of the county commission. (3) The sheriff of each county. (b) Except with regard to the sheriffs, the members of the board of directors of the authority shall serve at the pleasure of the county commission appointing them. (a)(1) Pursuant to the authority granted by Section 40-28-2, Madison County's share of payments made by the Tennessee Valley Authority to the state in lieu of ad valorem taxes shall be distributed in the following manner: (1) Up to one percent of such payments each year shall be used to establish, equip, and maintain a legislative delegation office.
