Section 25-5-227 Solicitation of claims or representation of claimants by persons not authorized to practice law. Any person who is not authorized by law to practice the profession of law within this state, who solicits for a consideration or traffics in for a consideration or represents for a consideration any claimant, claimants or claim for compensation under this chapter, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, may be imprisoned in the county jail or sentenced to hard labor for the county for not more than 12 months and must also be fined not more than $500.00.
