Section 12-15-102 Definitions. When used in this chapter, the following words and phrases
have the following meanings: (1) ADULT. An individual 19 years of age or older. (2) AFTERCARE.
Conditions and supervision as the juvenile court orders after release from the Department
of Youth Services. (3) CHILD. An individual under the age of 18 years, or under 21 years of
age and before the juvenile court for a delinquency matter arising before that individual's
18th birthday, or under 19 years of age and before the juvenile court for a child in need
of supervision matter or commitment to the State Department of Mental Health or under 19 years
of age and before the juvenile court for a proceeding initiated under Section 12-15-115(b)(2).
Where a delinquency petition alleges that an individual, prior to the individual's 18th birthday,
has committed an offense for which there is no statute of limitation pursuant to Section

Section 15-27-5 Objections; hearing; ruling. (a) If the prosecuting authority or victim
files an objection to the granting of a petition under this chapter, the court having jurisdiction
over the matter shall set a date for a hearing no sooner than 14 days from the filing of the
objection. The court shall notify the prosecuting authority and the petitioner of the hearing
date. In the discretion of the court, the court shall consider the following factors: (1)
Nature and seriousness of the offense committed. (2) Circumstances under which the offense

Section 31-13-27 Verification of citizenship and immigration status of students enrolling
in public schools; annual reports; disclosure of information. (a)(1) Every public elementary
and secondary school in this state, at the time of enrollment in kindergarten or any grade
in such school, shall determine whether the student enrolling in public school was born outside
the jurisdiction of the United States or is the child of an alien not lawfully present in

exemptions. (a) On November 1, 2000, every employer, child care facility, adult care facility,

Section 40-12-240 Definitions. (a) For the purpose of this article, the following terms
shall have the respective meanings ascribed by this section: (1) DEPARTMENT. The Alabama

Section 11-65-5 Composition of commission; terms; qualifications; removal from office.
(a) Every commission shall have five members, which shall constitute its governing body. All
powers of a commission shall be exercised by its members or pursuant to their authorization.
