Section 12-8-6 Duties of conference generally. It shall be the duty of the Judicial Conference: (1) To make a continuous study of the administration of justice in this state and of the organization, procedure, practice, rules and methods of administration and operation of each and all of the courts of the state; (2) To receive and consider and in its discretion investigate criticisms and suggestions pertaining to the administration of justice in the state; (3) To prepare for presentation to the Legislature at each regular session thereof a report of the proceedings of the conference and its recommendations relative to improving the administration of justice in Alabama and particularly of expediting the business of the courts and utilizing in the most appropriate manner the judges of the circuit courts and district courts of the state. The Interstate Compact for Juveniles is enacted into law and entered into with all jurisdictions mutually adopting the compact in the form substantially as follows: THE INTERSTATE COMPACT FOR JUVENILES Article I. Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation. Section 12-8-8 Chief Justice may direct use of appropriated funds by conference, etc.; application for grants and other assistance for conference.
